downtownsandiego.org-homeless_count-gaslamp-2

Resources

Documentation

Since 2014, the Downtown San Diego Partnership has been conducting monthly counts of the homeless in the Downtown neighborhood. The positions of homeless sleepers are recorded on paper maps, which are compiled into a spreadsheet. The San Diego Regional Data Library is running a project to digitize these paper maps](https://downtown-homelesness.sandiegodata.org/) into geographic datasets.

This dataset covers only the Gaslamp district, from 2014-01-01 to 2018-06-28.

San Diego Point In Time Count 2018, Tracts

Unsheltered counts per tract and sheltered counts per facility, for 2018 San Diego Point in Time Count of homeless.

rtfhsd.org-pitc-2018-4

Resources

Documentation

This dataset includes the sheltered and unsheltered homeless counts from the San Diego Continuum of Care, CA-601.

Caveats

The sheltered count, sheltered_2018, is based on a data extract from HUD, and is similar, although not exactly, the same as the 2018 records for CA-601 from the official HUD HIC dataset, which has been packaged to combine multiple years. . The sheltered_2018 resource in this dataset differs from the HUD dataset in two rows ( 336790, 347741 ) which appear to have been removed in an update made after source file for sheltered_2018 was extracted. However, the PITC beds for the removed rows appear to have been re-allocated, because both datasets have the same value for the sum of the pit_count variable. For many analytical uses, these datasets will be identical.

hudexchange.info-pit-coc-1

Resources

Documentation

HUD publishes an Excel workbook with sheltered and unsheltered counts, aggregated to CoC, for the whole country, for 2007 on. In this dataset, each year is in a seperate worksheet, and later years have more columns than earlier years, and most column names include the year as a suffix.

This data package combines al of these years into a single file, with normalized column names. Cells in years that don’t have a column that are in later years are filled with nulls, and each row is prefixed with the year of the file that the original row was sourced from.
